Feigin Compared The Belarusian Army To A Meme

Belarusians don't want to fight.

Well-known Russian opposition blogger and public figure Mark Feigin appeared on “Ordinary Morning” program, assessed the Belarusian army, which the head of the Security Council, Alexander Volfovich, had rated “9.5 out of 10” during an inspection the day before.

— It’s like those meme stories about the blonde who’s a 10 out of 10—but has anyone actually tested her? It’s the same with the Belarusian army. It’s very weak because, first of all, it lacks combat experience, which is highly valued these days.

Participation in combat operations is invaluable experience that the Belarusian army simply lacks. There are a few officers and soldiers from various special forces units who are sent to Ukraine for training on the orders of the leadership. But this is a tiny fraction.

Another problem, aside from the lack of experience, is that the Belarusian army isn’t ready to fight. To the average Belarusian conscript, everyone around him consists of people he doesn’t understand why he should fight against.

Where is the motivation to fight, for example, against Ukrainians—why? And this is very important for an army—to understand who you’re fighting.

If you think about it, all potential enemies of the Belarusian army are Lukashenko’s personal enemies, which means soldiers are simply expected to defend his personal power, to die for Lukashenko, Kolya, and some woman he’s living with.

However, without substantial motivation, the army fights poorly. The Ukrainians, among others, fight well because they are defending their country.
