Denmark has expedited the delivery of more than 50,000 rounds of 20-mm ammunition for the F-16 fighter jets’ onboard cannons to Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Ukrainian pilots are already using the ammunition to intercept jet-powered attack drones, the ministry notes.
“We thank Denmark for its swift and effective response to our request for additional ammunition. Such prompt action is crucial for strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and protecting people from Russian airstrikes,” the statement reads.
Denmark also provided a loan guarantee in the amount of 750 million kroner ($112.6 million) to the Danish subsidiary of Fire Point, a Ukrainian manufacturer of missiles and drones.
And last month, Denmark expedited its aid to Ukraine in response to a recent incident in which a Russian warship fired flares at a Danish military helicopter. The new aid package totals 1.8 billion Danish kroner ($276 million).
