The Freyja ballistic missile defense system is being prepared for testing.
Ukraine has completed its phase of work on European Freyja ballistic missile defense system and is waiting for ten partner countries to finish developing their components. After that, the project is set to move on to practical testing.
According to Fire Point, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the completion of Ukraine’s part of the project. He called on partners to speed up their work so that testing of the joint project can begin as soon as possible.
Freyja is being developed as a more affordable alternative to the American Patriot systems for intercepting ballistic missiles. The project involves combining the technological capabilities of ten countries, each of which is responsible for specific components of the air defense system.
It is expected that the program will enable European nations to create their own air defense system without relying on their American partners.
