Panic swept through those in charge of the data centers.
Russia has approved recommendations for protecting data centers from attacks by Ukrainian drones. The proposed measures include the construction of underground facilities, the installation of electronic warfare systems, and the coordination of efforts between IT companies and law enforcement agencies. This was reported by Dialog.UA citing Russian sources.
For the most critical data centers, underground placement and a multi-level protection system are proposed. The recommendations also include the installation of ultra-strong structures capable of withstanding a shock wave, as well as ongoing cooperation between IT companies and the Russian National Guard and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The measures described above are planned to be made mandatory for both government agencies and private businesses. Additional costs for infrastructure protection could lead to a rate increase of up to 10% for Russian service providers.
In October data centers belonging to several Russian companies, including Yandex, VK, Sber, and the Federal Tax Service, were targeted by Ukrainian UAVs. The attacks targeted key data centers in the Vladimir, Kaluga, Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, and Saratov regions.
