State Television Apologized To Viewers For Years Of Lies

The channel's staff members apologized on live TV.

Journalists from the regional public broadcaster RTV (“Radio and Television of Vojvodina”) stated on the air on October 26 that the public broadcaster has been presenting one-sided coverage of events in the country for many years.

This was reported by RTV.

The statement was released following the election victory of the “Student List” bloc and the defeat of the former long-time president Aleksandar Vučić.

“Some employees of ‘Radio and Television of Vojvodina’ have stated that the public broadcaster has failed to fulfill its functions for many years: it remains silent, turns a blind eye to problems, provides one-sided information, covers events uncritically, and fails to ask the right questions—or any questions at all. Therefore, they must apologize to viewers,” the statement reads.

According to the journalists, they have advocated for the freedom to work in accordance with ethical principles, but this struggle has not yielded the desired results. Nevertheless, they assert that it is important to continue the fight for professional and independent journalism.

It is worth noting that it was in the city of Novi Sad—the administrative center of Vojvodina—that a concrete structure collapsed at the train station, killing 16 people. This marked the beginning of years of protests against the Vučić government.
