The Ukrainian and Russian delegations met at the Gomel airport, according to BelTA. The meeting is related to the humanitarian operation in Oleshky.

Earlier, the Russian delegation’s plane landed in the regional capital.

The Ukrainian delegation, led by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubintsev, crossed the border at the “Novaya Guta” checkpoint, from where it traveled to Gomel Airport. The Ukrainian delegation includes American journalists.

Ukraine and Russia are upholding a ceasefire in the Oleshky area, which is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region. The town is occupied by Russian troops. In recent months, it has been effectively blockaded as a result of hostilities. A dire humanitarian situation has developed in the town. With the participation of international mediators, the parties agreed to a ceasefire to allow for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of the civilian population.
