He was involved in the executions of prisoners.
On the night of October 4, a high-ranking enemy of Ukraine was eliminated in the Kharkiv sector—Major Alexey Karavaev, commander of the 11th Tank Regiment of the 18th Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces, with the call sign “Father.”
This was reported by the “I Want to Live” project—a unified Ukrainian center for receiving requests from Russian occupiers to surrender.
Karavaev became the fifth commander of the 11th Tank Regiment in a year and a half to be killed in action by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to “I Want to Live,” the eliminated occupier distinguished himself in Ukraine by committing war crimes. In 2024, the 82nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, which he commanded at the time, executed at least three Ukrainian prisoners of war. This took place at the Volchansk Aggregate Plant. A witness to the crime claimed that the criminal order came from the regiment’s command.
“Sooner or later, just punishment will be meted out to all those involved in war crimes against the Ukrainian people,” emphasized “I Want to Live.”
