It is capable of producing 5% of Russia's gasoline.
The “Volgogradneftepererabotka” oil refinery, owned by Lukoil, Russia’s largest private oil company, completely halted crude oil processing as of October 2 due to equipment damage resulting from an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Reuters reported, citing two industry sources.
The regional administration, citing Governor Andrey Bocharov, reported on October 2 that there had been a massive UAV attack on the region’s industrial infrastructure, but did not name the specific facilities.
Previous major UAV attacks on the Volgograd Oil Refinery, which caused significant damage, occurred on May 29 and July 31.
According to information on the company’s website, the Volgograd Oil Refinery is capable of processing approximately 14 million metric tons of crude oil per year—about 5% of the total volume processed by Russia’s oil refineries.
