Bulgarian President Iliyana Yotova has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Advisory Council for October 7 following drone attacks on two merchant ships in the Black Sea. This was reported by the Bulgarian television channel bTV, citing the president’s press service.

The meeting will address current risks and threats to maritime security and Bulgaria’s critical infrastructure in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev previously reported that drones attacked two vessels in Bulgaria’s Black Sea economic zone. One of them sank near the city of Byala.

There were 18 people on board the second vessel, which was flying the flag of Palau. Two seriously injured people were taken to Varna, while the remaining 16 were transported to a maritime station.
