Trump Threatened To Fire His Advisers For Working On Behalf Of Pro-Russian Forces

The scandal erupted less than a month before the U.S. midterm elections.
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to fire two of his key political advisers following reports that they had been paid to work for the authorities of the Republika Srpska, which is linked to Moscow. The scandal erupted less than a month before the U.S. midterm elections, according to CNN.
The individuals in question are James Blair and Chris LaCivita. Blair heads the MAGA Inc. super-PAC, which is spending tens of millions of dollars to support Republican candidates, while Lacivita was one of the leaders of Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Both advisers traveled to the Republika Srpska last week and advised the authorities on election matters. They were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for their work through a Washington, D.C., law firm.
Trump stated that he was unaware of these activities. “They have the right to work for other clients, just like any consultants in Washington,” the president wrote.
However, he then made it clear that he was prepared to sever ties with them immediately if a conflict of interest were discovered. “If there is a conflict, I will fire them immediately,” the U.S. president said.
Blair and Lachivita claim that they worked specifically for the local government, not for the ruling nationalists. Critics, however, point out that these are, in fact, one and the same political entity.
The situation is particularly awkward for Trump on the eve of the election, as his advisers need to focus on the Republicans’ fight to retain control of Congress.
