Former U.S. Ambassador To Russia To Putin: The Clock Is Ticking

The Russian dictator is being advised to reach an agreement with Ukraine as soon as possible.

The Republican Party’s crushing defeat in the U.S. midterm elections is very bad news for Moscow. President Donald Trump, who had been helping Russia, will rapidly lose power. This was wrote a well-known American diplomat and former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul. He warned the Kremlin that its position in the negotiations will deteriorate with each passing day.

“Putin’s clock for striking a deal on Ukraine began ticking much faster today. Trump is rapidly losing ground. It would be wise for Putin to try to secure a ceasefire right now. It will only become more difficult to do so as time goes on,” the diplomat wrote.

He also noted that following today’s Republican rout, the decline of the “Trump era” will accelerate.

As a reminder, in the recent midterm elections, the Republican Party suffered one of the worst defeats in its history, losing both houses of Congress.
