Against the backdrop of a possible ground operation against Iran.

The U.S. State Department published a Level 3 advisory for citizens in the UAE. Those who have planned to travel to the country are urged to reconsider that decision.

Citizens who have decided to stay in the United Arab Emirates have been urged to be prepared to hide in safe places if necessary. The warning appeared on the official website of the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in the UAE, as well as on the U.S. Department of State's Consular Services page.

The agency recommends following notices and news reports, and in the event of a missile attack or drone threat, prepare to descend to safety.

"Our current recommendation for travel to the UAE is Level 3: Reconsider your travel decision. If you decide to stay in the UAE, you should be prepared to shelter in place in a safe location in your home or other secure facility as soon as you receive a cell phone notification or otherwise become aware of a missile and/or drone attack that is ongoing," the statement said.

Citizens are also advised to stock up on food, water and medical supplies.

"Stock up on food, water, medicine and other necessities," the U.S. State Department urged.

The advice comes amid a U.S. Defense Department report that at least 15 ballistic missiles and 11 drones were fired at the UAE from Iran on Thursday, March 26, The New York Times reported. The attack killed 2 people and injured 3 others.

The same day, Axios reported that the Pentagon is preparing to carry out a "final strike" on Iran.
