And called for reform of the UN.
Brazilian President Lula da Silva criticized Russia for its attack on Ukraine in a column for Kommersant, calling it a violation of international law:
"Every violation of international law opens the way for new abuses. From Afghanistan to Iran, including Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Ukraine, Gaza and Venezuela, the line between the permissible and the prohibited is blurring with the connivance and inaction of the United Nations Security Council. Using the veto sometimes as a shield, sometimes as a weapon, the permanent members of that body act without regard for the UN Charter. They are playing with the fate of millions, leaving a trail of death and destruction behind them."
Lula da Silva called for reforming the UN and especially the Security Council.
It should be noted that the Brazilian president is an opponent of sanctions pressure on Russia.
