The French president called on Tehran to guarantee freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he held a conversation with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. They discussed the situation in the Middle East, in particular, Iran's actions.

This is reported by Sharter97.org with reference to the French leader's post on social network X.

"I had a conversation with the president of Iran... Emphasized the need for Iran to immediately stop strikes on countries in the region... Also (Iran - ed.) must guarantee freedom of navigation by ending the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz," Macron wrote.

He added that "finally", he reiterated his "deep concern" about the development of Iran's nuclear and ballistic programs, as well as the whole range of destabilizing activities in the region, which are the cause of the current crisis.

"Now more than ever, it is necessary to find a diplomatic solution to these crucial problems, to put an end to escalation and preserve peace. We agreed to stay in touch," summarized the French President.
