They may be held as soon as possible.
A new round of U.S.-Iran talks could take place in the next two days in Pakistan, American President Donald Trump told The New York Post.
The piece said that after a recent conversation with the publication's reporter about the prospects for future talks between Washington and Tehran, the U.S. leader called back and said that "something could happen in the next two days."
"We're more inclined to go there. It's more likely. Do you know why? Because the field marshal is doing a great job," the U.S. president said.
Trump, as The New York Post explains, was referring to Pakistan's Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir. He noted that Munir is "terrific," which is why Trump said there is the greatest likelihood that the U.S. delegation will return to Pakistan.
"Why should we go to some country that has nothing to do with this?" - he stressed.
The previous round of US-Iran talks was held on April 11-12 in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. During them, the countries failed to reach an agreement. However, Vice President J.D. Vance later said that Washington had made "significant progress" in the talks with Tehran and now "the ball is on Iran's side."
