Trump Announced The Opening Of The Strait Of Hormuz

The U.S. president has announced cooperation with China and agreements on Iran.

US President Donald Trump said he sent a letter to Chinese President Si Jinping asking him not to supply arms to Iran. He said the Chinese leader responded that Beijing does not make such deliveries, the Reuters news agency writes (translated by Charter97.org).

Trump said he had previously received information about possible arms deliveries to Iran and decided to directly address Xi Jinping. China, he said, had assured him that it was not involved in supplying Tehran with arms.

The US president also said he did not expect the situation surrounding the war in Iran and changes in the oil market to affect his upcoming meeting with the Chinese leader next month. According to him, China is dependent on oil, while the US is not.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said that he allegedly "permanently opens" the Strait of Hormuz and that China is supposedly happy with the decision. He also said that Xi Jinping "would be happy to meet" with him in the coming weeks.

It's not specified exactly what Trump meant by this: shipping in the Strait of Hormuz remains restricted due to the effects of the conflict. According to sources, traffic through the strategic sea route remains well below pre-war levels.

Washington is also continuing its policy of pressure on Iran, including measures against shipping linked to Iranian ports. Possible new talks with Tehran are also being discussed, following the breakdown of previous consultations.
