New Details Of Renaming Americano To Mak.by Have Emerged

"Our Cava" has been acquired.

As found out by the portal "Belarusians and Market", the trademark "Nasha Kava", which became the "killer" of "Mak's Americano", was acquired by the owners of Mak.by from the founder of the Grodno cafe of the same name Dmitry Zakharko.

The corresponding agreement on "partial assignment" of the trademark was registered with the National Center for Intellectual Property in early April this year.

According to the NCIP database, since this month the trademark "Nasha Kava" has two owners.

The first of them remained (until September 2035) Dmitry Zakharko. The second was also until the same period of time Trade and Production Unitary Enterprise "Mak.Bai".

The difference they still have - by classes of goods and services (MKTU). Dmitry Zakharko has retained the rights to the trademark for cl. 45 - services of bars, cafes, restaurants, etc. And "Mak bai" is the owner of an identical trademark under cl. 30 - coffee itself.

Dmitry Zakharko is a well-known figure in the coffee business in Belarus. Firstly, he is the founder of one of the most famous coffee houses in Grodno "Nasha Kava". Secondly, he has a stake in a large Minsk brand roaster Single Step Coffee Co.

Reminder, the idea to replace "Americano" with something domestic was suggested to the owners of Mac.by by Alexander Lukashenko during a visit to one of the chain's establishments. As a result, "Americano" in the menu of the restaurants was transformed into "Our Cava".
