Large-scale consequences of an attack on strategic facilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
On the night of April 23, drones struck strategic objects in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. According to preliminary information, the Gorky intermediate oil pumping station near Kstovo was hit, Dialog.UA writes after analyzing social networks.
Residents of the town of Kstovo heard explosions in the morning of April 23. It is alleged that the Gorky NPS station was hit. Photos posted on the web prove it. A fire started in the area of the enterprise, a huge black column of smoke rises into the sky. This information is also confirmed by OSINT-analysts.
The Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin has not yet reacted to the situation in the region at the time of writing this news. The central Russian authorities are also silent.
The Gorky intermediate oil pumping station belongs to Transneft-Verkhnyaya Volga. It is a part of Surgut - Gorky - Polotsk oil pipeline and pumps oil through the main oil pipelines. It is one of the largest oil pumping hubs in Russia. Through it, crude oil is delivered to refineries, and then oil products are supplied to the Russian army and exported.
The Gorky oil pumping station is therefore a legitimate target for the AFU. The AFU has repeatedly attacked oil pumping stations on Russian territory.
For example, in September 2025, after Ukrainian UAV strikes on an oil pumping station near Cheboksary in Chuvashia, the operation of the Almetyevsk-Gorky oil pipeline was suspended.
