This was announced by Peter Magyar.

Hungary's new government will include a blind minister - marking the first such case in the country's recent history.

As "European Truth" reports, the announcement was made by Peter Magyar, leader of the opposition Tisza party and the country's future prime minister.

Magyar revealed his nominees for the posts of transport and social and family affairs ministers and said he would name a future education minister later in the day.

"For the first time in Hungary's history, the Ministry of Social and Family Affairs, which also deals with accessibility and equal opportunities, will be headed by a blind Hungarian - Vilmos Katai-Nemeth," the Tisza leader said.

He said that Katay-Nemeth lost his sight at the age of 16 in an accident, but after that he made efforts to stay active in life - he received a law degree and was still a practicing lawyer, as well as receiving a black belt in aikido.

"As a visually impaired person, he knows from his own experience the challenges faced by people with disabilities, so equal opportunities will be a priority issue for him. He joined Tice in 2024 and won as an individual candidate in Chapel County in the April 12 election," said Magyar.
