Belarusians Are Outraged By The Festival With Flamethrowers In Minsk Zoo

No sooner had volunteers and concerned Belarusians managed to move the scandalous musical rave from Belovezhskaya Pushcha than the reason for a new public outrage appeared already in Minsk.

This time the announcement of a fire show in Minsk Zoo caused discussion. They reported about the Minsk Fire Festival, which will be held from May 22 to 24 from 10:00 to 23:00.

Organizers call it "the hottest event of this spring" and promise a new format of family recreation with daytime entertainment, interactive areas, live music and a daily one and a half hour fire show.

The company Kresiva, which has been working in Belarus for more than 25 years, will be the organizer of fire performances. In particular, it holds the show "The Magic of Fire and Light" in Lida Castle.

Besides the fire performances, visitors are promised master classes, dance programs, quizzes and various interactive zones.

The cost of a ticket for one day is Br30, while the entrance is free for children under five. Also available on the site is a special charity ticket with a donation as part of the campaign "The Zoo is looking for friends".

The organizer of the event is the Minsk Zoo itself.

But in social networks the idea caused a wave of criticism. Users are asking why the zoo territory, where the animals are located, was chosen for a large-scale fire show.

Many commentators believe that such an event could become a stress for the zoo inhabitants, who need peace and quiet.

Some call the choice of the site unfortunate and disrespectful to the animals, while others call to boycott the event and not to buy tickets.
