"This reflects the traditional Chinese philosophy that the people are the foundation of the state and only by relying on a solid foundation can the state be stable," Xinhua quoted the Chinese president as saying. The Chinese Communist Party continues to develop a people-centered philosophy, Xi Jinping told his American counterpart.

Donald Trump arrived in China on May 13. It is his first visit to the country since 2017. The American president said his talks with the Chinese delegation were "extremely positive." Xi Jinping said China and the US can "help each other succeed and promote the well-being of the whole world."
