Ryazan In Smoke: Drones Hit One Of The Largest Refineries In Russia

After the explosions, a fire broke out at a key facility.

On the night of May 15, attack drones attacked the Russian city of Ryazan, hitting one of the occupying state's largest oil refineries, writes "Focus".

Explosions in Ryazan began to sound around 2 a.m., the monitoring telegram channel Exilenova+ reported.

"Ryazan: local residents report that something is on fire at the oil refinery," it said.

Witnesses also reported sounds of drones flying over, bright flashes in the sky, air defense work and heavy smoke.

And then videos of the fire at the refinery appeared online.

Russian publication Astra performed OSINT-analysis of the received footage and confirmed that as a result of the UAV attack the fire broke out exactly at the Ryazan oil refinery.

"ASTRA's OSINT-analyst established that, apart from two high-rise buildings, an oil refinery in the city was damaged," Astra journalists noted.

The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, also admitted that one of the enterprises was attacked by drones.

"UAV debris also fell on the territory of one of the industrial enterprises," Malkov wrote.

The Ryazan oil refinery is part of Rosneft PJSC. It is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia, its capacity is about 17 million tons of oil per year. Ryazan Refinery produces all grades of motor gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, liquefied gases, bitumen and petrochemical feedstock.
