What surprises are the AFU preparing for the Russians?

Ukraine may receive its own ballistic missiles as early as the summer of 2026, but so far we are talking about preliminary developments rather than mass serial production. This opinion in an interview with Charter97.org was expressed by military expert, colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in reserve Roman Svitan.

According to him, statements about the imminent appearance of Ukrainian ballistics have been heard for several years, but not all of them correspond to the real state of affairs.

"We have been hearing this for the second year. Ukrainian manufacturers tell tales that next year there will be 1000 missiles, 3000 missiles before last New Year and so on. But these are still announcements, it should be clearly understood," the expert noted.

Svitan reminded that Ukraine has a serious technological base, in particular, the Sapsan project, on the basis of which the Grom missiles were created. According to him, this very project remains the most promising.

The expert also admitted that some of these missiles could be produced outside Ukraine in a closed mode, because inside the country such facilities would become the target of Russian strikes.

At the same time, he estimated that in the summer, missiles with an operational range of about 300 kilometers could appear, but it would take at least another six months or a year of work to create systems capable of hitting targets at a distance of 500-800 kilometers.

The expert believes that if domestically produced ballistic missiles are added to mass drone attacks, this could significantly change the situation on the battlefield in the coming months.
