CNN has revealed the details.
US President Donald Trump held a meeting with senior national security officials on Friday to determine further strategy on Iran. This was reported by CNN, citing a source familiar with the meeting.
The White House meeting took place amid intense diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement to end the conflict, but ended without a final decision on next steps.
In parallel, international mediation contacts continue. According to Iranian media, delegations from Qatar and Pakistan have traveled to Tehran to discuss a possible cessation of hostilities. Iranian and Pakistani representatives are also reported to have held an overnight meeting on "preventing escalation."
At the same time, Tehran says disagreements with the US remain "very deep" and additional time and further talks are needed to reach an agreement.
Sources say Trump is considering various options for further action, including military action, amid frustration over the pace of talks. He was reportedly close to deciding on strikes earlier this week, but abstained after appeals from Gulf states.
It has also been reported that the president has decided to stay in Washington, canceling a trip to his golf resort and declining to attend a family event. He attributed it to "circumstances concerning the government" and the need to be in the White House.
"I believe it is important for me to remain in Washington ... during this important time period," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The meeting was also attended by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hagset and other senior officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Kaine.
A final decision on future U.S. policy toward Iran has not yet been made. The officials said the talks are ongoing, but key contradictions between the sides remain unresolved.
