This came amid strained relations between the countries.

Rospotrebnadzor suspended the sale in Russia of wines and cognacs produced by three companies from Armenia: Vedi-Alco, Abovyan Cognac Factory and Shahnazaryan Wine and Cognac House.

The ban includes, in particular, red semi-sweet wine "Getap Vernashen", white dry wine "Vedi-Alco", "Armenian Cognac 5 Stars" and cognac "Shahnazaryan XO".

According to the agency, alcohol from these producers does not meet "mandatory requirements". It is not specified what these requirements are.

This is happening against the background of deteriorating relations between Moscow and Yerevan due to the latter's rapprochement with the EU. In April, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia had no plans to return "to activity" in the CSTO.

In early May, Yerevan hosted a summit of the European Political Community, which was attended by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
