A Major Renovation Of One Of Warsaw's Main Train Stations Is Set To Begin

  • 13.06.2026, 14:56

The project will cost 3.6 billion zlotys.

The renovation of the Warszawa Wschodnia station will begin later this year. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe has signed a contract for the work with Torpol, according to "Polish Radio".

Railway officials say the station will become a modern transit hub. New platforms and canopies will be installed here. Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak promises that passengers will enjoy a higher level of comfort:

“The modernization will cover all platforms. Finally, escalators will be installed—there will be seven pairs. There will be 14 elevators. We will also rebuild over 46 kilometers of tracks and 50 kilometers of overhead contact lines. We will also reconstruct the tunnel and build a pedestrian underpass.”

However, the renovation work will cause some inconvenience. During the work, some long-distance trains will be rerouted to the Warszawa Gdańska station. Other trains will begin or end their routes at other stations in Warsaw.

The work will cost 3.6 billion zlotys. The station’s modernization is scheduled to be completed in 2029.
