Initial reactions to Zelenskyy's ultimatum to the Belarusian dictator.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave Alexander Lukashenko a week to remove the equipment from the border that is guiding Russian strikes on Ukraine.
“I think a week will be enough for him to do this. If he doesn’t, we will,” the Ukrainian president said.
Lukashenko has not yet responded to the ultimatum.
Meanwhile, analysts note that Zelenskyy’s statements do not appear to be a bluff at all.
Dmitry Chernyshev, a Russian columnist:
— I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the Ukrainians have long been working to systematically eliminate all of Russia’s allies.
And if you’re going to switch sides to join the victors, now is the time.
Ukraine isn’t bluffing—it will be able to quickly wipe out the entire Belarusian army. As well as all of its oil refineries. Both of them—the Mozyr and Novopolotsk refineries.
Igor Losik, journalist:
— Zelenskyy has not yet signed a decree authorizing the harvest festival and Dazhynak in Belarus this year.
Abbas Gallyamov, political strategist:
— Now that’s an escalation! Zelenskyy has issued an ultimatum to Lukashenko. He seems to be feeling very confident now. Apparently, the Russian army no longer impresses him at all.
