A fire broke out near the Tavricheskaya Thermal Power Plant.

On the night of June 20, drones launched a massive attack on occupied Crimea. A series of explosions rocked Simferopol and nearby towns, and power outages began in some areas.

The Tavriya Thermal Power Plant may have been targeted by drones that night. This was reported by the monitoring channel “Crimean Wind”.

According to analysts, the attack on the occupied peninsula began around 11:00 p.m. on June 19. Explosions were heard in Bakhchisaray and over Simferopol, while in Armyansk, mobile fire teams were active, striking targets in the sky. Shortly thereafter, power went out in the Dzhankoy and Saki districts, as well as in settlements near Simferopol.

A short time later, eyewitnesses reported that the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant, among other facilities, had come under drone attack that night.

“According to reports from subscribers, there has been an ‘arrival’ in the area of the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant, along with a fire and a column of black smoke,” analysts write.

Meanwhile, footage of the attack on the facility has appeared online. The video and photos show a column of smoke rising near the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant, as well as a fire that has broken out.

Around 1:00 a.m., the channel reported that the attack on the Tavricheskaya Thermal Power Plant was still ongoing. A fire was still raging at the site.

“The fire continues. A plume of smoke stretches over Stroganovka; most likely, a fuel tank has been damaged,” the report states.

At the same time, local authorities—in particular, the so-called governor of the occupied peninsula Sergey Aksyonov—had not commented on the massive attack on Crimea as of the time of publication. There has also been no official confirmation of damage to the Tavricheskaya Thermal Power Plant.
