Iran May Walk Away From Nuclear Talks With The U.S.

Tehran is demanding an end to Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Negotiations that will determine the future of Iran's nuclear program are in danger of collapsing due to a new escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, according to Bloomberg.
According to the publication, Tehran insisted that the agreements with the U.S. include a cessation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
However, as the source notes, the Israeli military struck Hezbollah targets after the group fired more than 50 shells at IDF positions in southern Lebanon.
Due to the resumption of hostilities, the Iranian side decided not to send its delegation to Switzerland, where a new round of negotiations was scheduled to take place.
The parties have not yet announced a new date for the meeting. Meanwhile, Swiss officials stated that preparations for the talks are continuing, and the White House assured that the U.S. delegation is ready to travel to the talks as soon as the opportunity arises.
Meanwhile, Iran is blaming Washington for the escalation of the situation in Lebanon. The country’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai stated that the U.S. bears “direct responsibility” for Israel’s actions and developments in the region.
Despite the temporary truce between the U.S. and Iran, the parties have yet to agree on key issues related to Iran’s nuclear program. Experts note that reaching a comprehensive agreement may take significantly longer than the 60 days stipulated in the current agreements.
