Ukraine's president called the strikes fair.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky does not link the new Ukrainian strike on targets in St. Petersburg with the upcoming visit of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to an economic forum in that city. The Ukrainian leader said this during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Kiev.
"Frankly speaking, I, well, I don't follow, I don't have a program where Putin is going on what day. We are responding to the strikes on Ukraine," the president pointed out.
But he called the strikes on Russia fair, recalling that the occupiers carried out a massive attack on Ukraine from June 1 to June 2.
The head of state emphasized that Ukraine responds to Russia only by striking oil refineries or military facilities.
"[Russians] should know that if they use drones and missiles against us, we will do the same. And the question is in time, when we will be able to increase the massiveness of our responses," the head of state concluded.
On the night of June 3, Ukraine carried out new strikes against the Russian Federation, particularly against St. Petersburg, where the annual international economic forum (SPIEF) kicked off the same day. Putin is expected to attend the event on June 5.
