The Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg has sentenced Artem Buchin, a veteran of the war in Ukraine, to life in prison for the murder of his ex-wife and her 7-year-old daughter, according to Kommersant.
The crime took place in August 2024 in the city of Chusovoy, Perm Krai. According to the investigation, Buchin and his ex-wife got into an argument while drinking alcohol. As a result, the serviceman attacked the woman and strangled her, and then killed her daughter from her first marriage, who had come running at the sound of the commotion. After that, he sexually assaulted both of them and went to relax in a sauna at a local entertainment complex. The bodies were found the next day. According to a neighbor, the mother’s body was covered in numerous abrasions, and the girl’s face was wrapped in duct tape.
Buchin pleaded guilty and stated that he was remorseful. He and the victim had a four-year-old son. Buchin had been convicted multiple times previously. After being released from prison in May 2022, he raped and murdered a 23-year-old nurse he did not know Tatyana Rekutin in August, who had asked him for directions. For this, in February 2023, the Chusovoy City Court sentenced him to 20 years in a maximum-security prison. But Buchin was soon released after enlisting to fight in the war against Ukraine. He committed the new murder while on leave. During questioning, he stated that he suspected his ex-wife of cheating on him.
