Searches Are Being Conducted At The Party Of Hungary's Former Prime Minister Orbán

Investigators intend to seize the party's entire communications system and its database.

On July 21, searches are being conducted at the headquarters of former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s party, Fidesz. The party announced this.

“Without prior notice, investigators from the prosecutor’s office arrived at the center that hosts Fidesz’s servers with the intention of seizing the party’s entire communications system and its databases. Nothing like this has happened in Hungary since 1990—that is, since the end of the communist regime! The plan by the “Tisza” party (Hungary’s ruling party, which won the April 2026 elections. — Ed.) to eliminate “Fidesz” and, along with it, resistance to arbitrary rule through political means has failed,” reads a statement from Orbán’s party.

The party added that Tisza is attempting to legally paralyze Fidesz’s activities, but that Fidesz will not yield to “either political or legal pressure, will not back down, and will continue to resist the Tisza Party’s high-handedness.”

As a reminder, earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar initiated amendments to the country’s Constitution to remove President Tamás Szujók from office and strip former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s allies of their influence.

An investigation has also been launched in the country against Péter Szijjártó due to his ties to Russia while serving as the country’s foreign minister.
