Honor is more important than any title, position, or award.

On his page on Telegram page, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny commented on the appointment of Mykhailo Drapaty to the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In his post, Zaluzhny emphasized that the cause to which military personnel devote their entire lives is, above all, based on moral principles and values that shape honor. According to him, honor is more important than any rank, position, or award.

He noted that it is honor that helps generate new ideas, find ways to implement them, and rally people around oneself who are ready to faithfully fulfill their duty and overcome the toughest challenges together. At the same time, Zaluzhny emphasized that those who disregard these principles ultimately face disgrace.

He addressed the new commander-in-chief separately, noting that Mikhail Drapaty will face far more challenges in this position than might appear to be the case now. At the same time, Zaluzhny expressed his conviction that he “will never again feel ashamed,” because a man of honor is guided not by personal ambition but by a sense of responsibility toward the state and the army.

“It will be very difficult for the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Much harder than he imagines. However, Mykhailo will certainly never be ashamed. A man of honor has no idols, so he has nothing to lose. The only thing he has is duty,” the post reads.

In conclusion, the former commander-in-chief emphasized that a man of honor does not create idols for himself, because the only thing he has is his duty. He concluded his post with the words: “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!”
