Bloomberg: Moscow Has Acknowledged The Strength Of The Ukrainian Armed Forces In The Black Sea

Russia is facing problems with its main export hub.

New economic problems are looming in Russia due to Ukraine’s intensified attacks on ships linked to the aggressor country in the Black Sea.

According to Bloomberg citing a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russia has declared its waters in the Black Sea, including the area around Novorossiysk—the country’s main export hub—dangerous for navigation.

The report states that Russia has warned all vessels of the dangers of navigating within its exclusive economic zone.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, between July 8 and 20, at least 124 vessels linked to Russia were targeted. Among them, according to the estimate provided, were 89 oil tankers.

Amid the threat of new attacks, the port of Novorossiysk has imposed a verbal ban on vessel traffic at night—from midnight to 5:00 a.m. local time—which disrupts the round-the-clock cargo transshipment schedule.

Novorossiysk is of strategic importance to the Russian economy. Significant volumes of export cargo, including energy resources, pass through this port. If restrictions on vessel traffic remain in place, this will lead to additional delays in logistics.
