A Well-known General Has Taken Command Of Forces That May Enter Ukraine After The War

Kyiv's allies are already preparing for joint exercises.

British Lieutenant General Tom Bateman has been appointed the new commander of the Multinational Forces for Ukraine. He has already issued an official statement.

This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense.

In this role, Betman replaced his French predecessor. This comes against the backdrop of preparations by the “Coalition of the Willing” for exercises during which the deployment of foreign forces in Ukraine will be simulated.

The command handover ceremony took place at the forces’ operational headquarters in Paris.

It took place after the new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham reaffirmed Britain’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine, as well as its joint leadership with France in the “Coalition of the Willing.”

“It is a great honor for me to assume command of the Multinational Forces for Ukraine here at its operational headquarters in Paris. Building on the excellent work of my predecessor and his team, we will continue to work closely with our Ukrainian and international partners to prepare forces that will help ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine,” Beattie said.

The Multinational Force for Ukraine has two main missions: capacity-building and security assurance.

They will strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine by providing military training and replenishing stocks of weapons and equipment, so that Ukrainian troops are better equipped to deter further Russian aggression.

“Patrolling the skies and seas will help provide Ukraine with the security guarantees it needs to restore commercial air travel, rebuild a thriving economy, and attract international investment,” the British Ministry of Defense stated.
