Peskov Threatens Drapaty

Putin's press secretary said that the new commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces "will be held accountable for his remarks" about Russia.

The new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Mykhailo Drapaty “will be held accountable for his words” about Russians, Russian Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told the Vesti news agency.

“I have no doubt that, one way or another, he will be held accountable for his words,” he said.

Peskov added that statements such as the one made by Drapaty indicate the unwillingness of some representatives of the Ukrainian authorities to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war peacefully.

“He and people like him will do everything in their power to prevent any representative of the Kyiv regime from reaching a peaceful solution,” Putin’s press secretary noted.

Earlier, in an interview with the YouTube channel Ukrainer W, Drapaty stated, among other things, that Russia is “a nation with a leadership that has no right to exist” in the civilized world. The recording was made in May 2023 for another project, but the full version of the interview was published on July 22, 2026, the day after Drapaty was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
