The U.S. And Ukraine Want To Propose An Air Ceasefire To Russia

The Kremlin has responded.

The presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, plan to meet in Washington on July 28. Ahead of Zelenskyy’s visit, Ukrainian and U.S. officials discussed a proposal for an aerial ceasefire.

This was reported by Reuters on July 24, citing a Ukrainian source.

The proposal for an aerial ceasefire is to be conveyed to the aggressor state, the Russian Federation.

The publication’s source noted that Ukraine has already approached Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin with proposals for a ceasefire. These proposals were rejected.

However, some officials believe that Putin’s position may soften—amid pressure on the Russian economy due to Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s oil infrastructure and logistics.

Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia will not yet comment on reports that Ukraine and the U.S. are discussing the possibility of halting airstrikes. According to Peskov, it is “still too early” for that.
