A fire broke out at the facility as a result of an airstrike.

On the night of July 3, Ukrainian UAVs attacked strategic targets in Russia’s Smolensk Oblast, damaging an industrial facility. This was reported by Dialog.UA, which monitored social media and messaging apps.

The governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, confirmed that an air raid alert was issued in the region on the night of July 3. He acknowledged that an industrial facility had been hit. A fire broke out at the facility as a result of the airstrike. The governor did not specify which facility was involved. Anokhin stated that Emergency Ministry personnel who arrived at the scene managed to contain the fire.

He urged local residents to take precautions and not to approach any drone parts they might find.

Residents of the Smolensk region have not yet reported what target in their region was attacked by Ukrainian drones. In its report, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that on the night of July 3, Russian air defense forces shot down Ukrainian drones in the skies over the Smolensk region, but did not specify the number.

In total, on the night of Friday, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down 155 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs in the skies over Russia. The Smolensk region is home to many Russian military and strategic facilities, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly carry out strikes against them.

For example, on the night of February 25, 2026, Ukrainian UAVs “visited” a chemical plant in the city of Dorogobuzh, whose ammonium nitrate is used in Russia’s military-industrial complex.
