She was 75 years old.
Since May, she had been in a hospital in the Portuguese city of Faro, where she underwent emergency intestinal surgery. As part of the procedure, the singer was placed in an induced coma. In mid-June, Tyler was brought out of the coma, but she remained in serious condition, according to the BBC.
A statement published on the singer’s website said that she unexpectedly passed away the night before at the hospital where she was continuing treatment. Tyler had been hospitalized just before a concert tour scheduled for the summer.
