The forecasts are encouraging.
The last month of summer, unlike the previous ones, has so far remained surprisingly ordinary. No temperature records, no abnormal heat. However, fall is just around the corner.
Weather forecaster Dmitry Ryabov appeared on ONT to discuss what kind of weather Belarusians can expect during the week of August 17–23.
Our country will be affected by two atmospheric fronts at once—one from northwestern Europe and one from the Atlantic. This will affect not only precipitation levels but also average temperatures.
Forget about the heat
Precipitation is expected in the northwest and east of the country during the first few days of next week. Thunderstorms are possible. Cloudy weather will prevail across most of the country.
Monday will be the warmest day—afternoon temperatures will range from +19°C in the northwest of the country to +32°C in the southeast of the Gomel Region. Overnight temperatures are expected to range from +12 to +17°C.
As early as Tuesday, the temperature in Brest will not rise above +22°C. Overnight temperatures are forecast to range from +10°C in the north to +15°C in the south of Belarus.
On Wednesday, under the influence of a high-pressure system, the weather will push the precipitation zone eastward. Rain showers will continue to be brief and limited to certain areas.
The wind will be moderate from the northwest, with occasional gusts during the day. Overnight temperatures will range from +9 to +14°C. Daytime temperatures will range from +18°C in northern Belarus to +23°C in the southern regions.
What the Atlantic cyclone will bring
Starting in the second half of the week, the weather will be influenced by an Atlantic cyclone. The wind will be westerly or southwesterly, mostly moderate. There will be fog in the morning.
Clouds will cover the sky on Thursday, with rain expected. Overnight temperatures will range from +9 to +14°C. Daytime highs are forecast to range from +20°C in the Vitebsk Region to +25°C in the Brest and Gomel Regions. Similar weather is expected on Friday.
Weekend
You’ll be able to take a break from the workweek outdoors—the weather will improve somewhat. Rain is possible, but it will be localized and short-lived. Partly cloudy skies, moderate winds, and humidity up to 70% are expected.
On Saturday and Sunday nights, temperatures will range from +9 to +14°C, while daytime highs will range from +19°C in the Vitebsk region to +25°C in the southern part of the Brest region.
