The royal family arrived at the hospital.
The health of Norway's 89-year-old King Harald has deteriorated during his hospital stay.
This was reported on Thursday by the Royal Palace of Norway.
“His Majesty the King’s health has deteriorated. His Majesty the King’s condition is very serious,” according to a statement on the palace’s website.
As a result, Crown Prince Haakon and Harald’s wife, Queen Sonja, have canceled all scheduled engagements, according to a statement from the palace.
According to NRK, several cars belonging to the royal family arrived at the hospital on Thursday. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Prince Sverre Magnus, and Queen Sonja are at the king’s side. Princess Astrid, the king’s sister, has also arrived.
Harald, the oldest head of state in Europe, was hospitalized on August 17, and, according to the palace, was being treated for a bacterial infection in his blood.
Reports of his condition worsening were also released on August 24.
Harald, who ascended to the Norwegian throne in 1991, had experienced numerous health problems in recent years, which forced him to have a pacemaker implanted and to scale back his official schedule.
However, he has always ruled out the possibility of abdicating, arguing that he took a lifetime oath before the Norwegian Parliament.
In February, he was hospitalized due to an infection and dehydration in Tenerife, where he had traveled on a private vacation with Queen Sonja.
