Five Drones Flew Into Moldova Following Russia's Attack On Ukraine

The country's Ministry of Defense has released the first details.

On the night of August 27, several drones of unknown origin violated Moldova’s airspace. This occurred after Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine had already ended.

This was reported by Newsmaker.

Journalists received information about the drones’ incursion into Moldovan territory from the country’s Ministry of Defense.

The first drone crossed the state border from Ukraine at 3:56 a.m. near the village of Belyaevka. It is known that it then flew in the direction of Palanka in the Ștefan Vodă District. A short time later, the drone left Moldovan airspace and returned toward Ukraine.

As for the second drone, it entered from the direction of the Ukrainian village of Starokozache. At 3:59 a.m., it flew over the village of Kaplany, and at 4:10 a.m., it disappeared from monitoring systems near the village of Karagasany in the Ștefan Vodă District.

“At 04:09, the third UAV crossed the state border from Ukraine and flew along the route Palanka–Krokmaz–Olanesti–Purkar–Raskaets. At 4:24 a.m., the drone disappeared from radar near the city of Pervomaisk in the Transnistrian region of Moldova,” the publication reports.

According to the Moldovan Ministry of Defense, another drone violated Moldovan airspace at 4:16 a.m. while heading toward Palanka, after which it returned to Ukraine in the direction of the village of Mayaki.

“At the same time, at 5:50 a.m., near the Saitsy (Moldova)–Lesnoye (Ukraine) checkpoint, on the border between Moldova’s Caușeni District and Ukraine, a drone crossed the airspace of both countries. At 06:02, it headed toward Lesnoye and left Moldovan airspace,” the media reports.

It is important to note that all of this took place after the Russian Federation had concluded its airstrikes on Ukraine.

The Moldovan Ministry of Defense also clarified that allies had assisted them in tracking the drones.
