Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attempted to explain why the Russian leadership allegedly continues to believe the promises of other countries, despite repeated disappointments. He cited a supposed “nobility” and the Russian habit of acting “like a real man,” writes Dialog.UA.

According to Lavrov, the Russian people are supposedly distinguished by great patience and a tendency to believe that even a person who behaves dishonestly will ultimately keep their promises.

“We’re used to doing things the noble way—you could say, the ‘good-guy’ way. It’s essentially the same thing,” the Russian minister stated.

The diplomat went on to cite several Russian proverbs, including: “The Lord was patient and commanded us to be so”; “Measure seven times, cut once”; and “People wait three years for a promise.”
