NBC: Pentagon Chief Hegset Plans To Run For Office

Pentagon Chief Pete Hagseth has denied reports that he might run in the 2028 U.S. presidential election, as previously reported by the media.

According to “European Truth,” he wrote about this on his X account.

The NBC News, citing sources, had previously reported that Hegset had allegedly discussed with close associates the possibility of running for office in 2028.

“That is 100% false. We told NBC this, but they’re just lying, citing anonymous sources,” Hegseth said.

He added that his only job remains leading the Pentagon.

Last year, U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking about who he sees as his successor, stated that the Republican Party has a “strong bench,” unlike the Democrats.
