The Kremlin occupier is willing to take risks.

Almost a year ago, the former head of the United Kingdom’s Secret Intelligence Service (commonly known as MI-6) Sir Richard Moore, in his farewell speech, also essentially called on Russia to cease its aggression against Ukraine, arguing that continuing the war in its current form means losing the future.

Therefore, the actions of the current CIA director, who is in Moscow attempting to influence Russia’s decision-making process regarding the war by providing an assessment of its dynamics and impact on the country’s future, are nothing new.

But in both cases—whether consciously or not—a completely different frame of reference, within which the Kremlin occupier operates, is being overlooked. This man has long resembled a card player who consistently loses but refuses to stop playing, believing he’ll win it all back in the next round.

It is looking more and more as though the Kremlin occupier is willing to risk the functioning and future of the Russian Federation if there remains even the slightest chance of forcing Ukraine to make peace on his terms through a corresponding total war.

On the other hand, the appeal to common sense and rationality—as understood by the West— — also serves as a cover for the inability and unwillingness to develop and implement a policy that would compel the Russian Federation to end the war on terms acceptable to the West. After all, such a policy requires effort, resources, and political capital. But appealing to rationality and common sense, in essence, costs political intelligence chiefs and the regimes behind them nothing…
