Iranian agents were already in the Miami area.
On Saturday, August 29, the Shin Bet airport security service confirmed that threats had been made by Iran against the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—Yair. As a result, he was evacuated from Florida back to Israel
This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
“There was indeed a serious threat of harm to Yair Netanyahu, and in light of this, after assessing the situation, a decision was made to urgently evacuate him along with his security team back to Israel,” the Shin Bet said in a statement.
The report on the Iranian threat was originally published on Tuesday on the Newsmax website. The report states that in December, Israeli intelligence uncovered a plot to assassinate Yair in Florida, after which it relayed this warning to U.S. authorities.
A U.S. source told Newsmax that, according to intelligence assessments, Iranian agents were already “on the ground” in the Miami area and had even been surveilling Yair’s residence and movements.
Consequently, Yair—who is constantly accompanied by Israeli security—was ordered to leave the scene immediately. According to media reports, he left without even taking his belongings and returned directly to Israel, where he currently resides.
Incidentally, last week the prime minister told Channel 14 in an interview that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons, but he declined to specify whether the target was Yair or Avner.
“Something unimaginable is happening here. Iran has set its sights on one of my sons. Iran tried to kill him—tried to kill one of my sons,” Netanyahu said.
