Switzerland's New Ambassador Has Arrived In Belarus

He previously worked in Russia and Ukraine.

The new Swiss ambassador to Belarus Stefan Estermann has arrived at his post. The diplomat announced his arrival in a video message posted on the embassy’s page on “Facebook”.

According to him, he and his wife were “warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home.” “I am looking forward to starting my new job, meeting interesting people, and engaging with the community,” — the ambassador added.

Estermann is 58 years old and has been working at the Swiss Foreign Ministry since 1996. During that time, he has served in Ukraine and Russia and also served as the ministry’s chief of staff.

From 2014 to 2018, he headed the diplomatic mission in Croatia, and from 2022 to 2026, he will head the mission in Greece. In addition to his native German, he is fluent in French, English, Czech, and Russian.
