A Russian "Gerbera" Drone Was Shot Down In Lithuania

According to the information currently available, the drone that flew into Lithuania on the night of September 15 was a Russian “Gerbera.” This was stated by the country’s president Gitanas Nausėda, according to LRT.

“This was likely not a deliberate act against Lithuania; most likely, it was a Russian drone intended for Ukraine that was diverted from its course by Ukrainian electronic warfare systems and entered our country’s territory, where it was shot down. Of course, in the future, when we have additional information, we will certainly share it,” Nausėda said.

According to him, the electronic data is currently being analyzed, and “it appears we will be able to recover the information and obtain much more detail about where, how, and under what circumstances” the drone entered the country.

Nausėda noted that, unfortunately, similar incidents may occur in the future.

As a reminder, on the night of September 15 in Lithuania, NATO fighter jets shot down a drone, which, according to preliminary data, may have come from Belarus.

Due to the incident, air raid alerts were issued in several regions of the country.
