Survey.

Even some Republicans no longer believe in the economic success of U.S. President Donald Trump. And ahead of the midterm elections in November, Democrats have gained the upper hand on key issues.

This is reported by Charter97.org, citing a poll conducted by The New York Times.

According to the New York Times/Siena poll, with a month and a half to go before the U.S. midterm elections, the Democratic Party has gained a significant lead.

This is due to a decline in voter confidence in Trump stemming from:

- economic problems,
- the rising cost of living

Key findings of the poll:

Among registered voters, 51% are ready to support Democratic candidates, compared to 43% for Republicans;

The president’s overall approval rating remains low at 38%;

71% of voters are dissatisfied with how Trump is addressing the rising cost of living.

Democrats also lead Republicans on the issues that secured Trump’s victory in 2024:

- the economy (51% versus 45%),
- immigration (52% versus 45%).
