The Russian Federation's 30th Separate Mixed Transport Aviation Regiment has come under attack.
On the night of September 17, a series of explosions rocked the Russian city of Rostov. The city was hit by a massive drone attack, after which a major fire broke out, according to “Focus”.
In addition, sounds resembling explosions were heard in Rostov following the drone attack. This was reported by OSINT channels.
According to analysts, the explosions in Rostov began around 1:00 a.m. Prior to that, an air raid alert had been issued in the region due to a drone threat.
Shortly thereafter, information emerged regarding which specific facility had been targeted by the drones in Rostov. According to monitoring channels citing eyewitness accounts and OSINT analysis, the UAVs struck a military airfield. Footage of the attack was shared online: explosions can be heard, and bright flashes and a fire are visible.
Analysts later clarified that the drones had attacked the “Rostov-on-Don—Central” airbase in Rostov. The 30th Separate Mixed Transport Aviation Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces is stationed there. The airbase itself is actively involved in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, being used by the occupiers to provide logistics as well as to transport Russian forces and military cargo to the front lines.
At the time of publication, Russian authorities and the military had not confirmed the attack on the airfield. Russian media reported that the attack on the city continued even after 3:00 a.m., when air defenses attempted to destroy new targets over the city.
